Climate change and often human negligence have stacked the deck in favor of intense fires that ravage wildlands. With wildfires becoming more frequent, wildland firefighters must be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to keep these conflagrations under control. Amid this challenging backdrop, WATERAX, an industry leading water pump manufacturer, has firmly stood behind all the firefighters for the past 125 years. Placing powerful, precision-engineered, quintessential pumps into their hands, WATERAX protects lives and property from the ravages of wildfires.

With a time-tested legacy of reliability, WATERAX’s innovative water pumps have been perpetually trusted by wildland firefighters to withstand the demanding and rugged environments in which they are operated.

“Our vision is to keep the legacy alive and continue setting new benchmarks of excellence with our cutting-edge water pumps in the wildland firefighting community for generations to come,” says Gabriella Gerbasi, Director of Sales & Marketing at WATERAX.

WATERAX’s roots trace back to its century-long tradition of designing and manufacturing portable pumps that helped them bring its flagship portable MARK-3 pump to the market. It quickly became the gold standard for performance, reliability, and durability in wildland firefighting operations, moving water for forestry agencies around the world since 1964. Over the timeline, WATERAX sought feedback from firefighters to understand the modern-day requirements and challenges they face in wildland scenarios to improve the MARK-3 pump and update it for the challenges of modern-day wildland firefighting.

This led to the all-new MARK-3® Watson Edition fire pump that maintains the iconic look of the classic MARK-3 pump but boasts exciting modernized features, including the first ever purpose-built engine for a wildland pump. WATERAX pushed the envelope of innovation and collaborated with companies that are experts in their field to build an engine specifically adapted for wildland firefighting.
The MARK-3® Watson Edition pump plugs right into the existing MARK-3 pump water-moving systems, providing a host of advantages. The next generation fire pump is lighter, smaller, safer, user-friendly, and easier to start. Furthermore, the pump is designed for firefighters in line with ergonomic standards with improved mobility.

Building on that, WATERAX hopes that once again the MARK-3 Watson Edition pump becomes the benchmark for performance, reliability, and durability in wildland firefighting operations.

“We are moving the tradition forward by evolving a pump that has been around since the 60s to make it the weapon of choice for wildland firefighters,” states Gerbasi.

The MARK-3 Watson Edition is a lightweight, portable fire pump that can be easily transported to a fire scene and quickly made operational to deliver large quantities of water onto the fire. WATERAX pumps are single- or multi-stage centrifugal pumps.

This system allows for pumping water from external sources such as lakes, streams, rivers, and pools, which often contain minor debris. Centrifugal systems also allow for tandem pumping and can pump water over large distances and points of elevation. These comprehensive functionalities are also of great use for putting out fires in different settings such as in farm fields, oil fields, construction sites, marinas, golf courses, and even for making ice bridges and snow.

With a time-tested platform renowned for its performance, reliability, and durability, the WATERAX BB-4®, the weapon of choice in many wildland operations, is the preferred choice of many government agencies like the US Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) for Type 6 fire apparatus.

Empowered by its ability to craft high-quality solutions, which form the cornerstone of superior and dependable firefighting performance, WATERAX proudly maintains its century-long tradition of designing and manufacturing high performance, durable, and portable pumps, which has been at the heart of fire suppression over the years.
